This is not right!

Sharing my personal thoughts on the the Rohingya boat refugees turned away by Malaysia, sending them back to sea:

(Picture from www.nytimes.com)

1. What is done by the Malaysian government not right. How can it be that every member of the Malaysian cabinet, senior Government officials, in their hearts agree to this?  I do not think so. I believe we have the heart to save lives..

2. There is no excuse, no matter how much we try to rationalize away the problem, or that there are greater or equal social problems in our own country. This is not to say that our own domestic problems are not important. The fact is that we are deliberately sending fellow human beings to possible eventual death, should not happen.

3. I call on our leaders to act immediately to save the lives of those at sea, and to prevent them from possible death.

4. Drive leadership and make a difference. Malaysia as current Chair of ASEAN is faced with an ASEAN crisis. it is not just a Myanmar problem anymore I believe.

5. I hope that as Chair, we will not take a "back-seat leadership" to pass the buck or fallback on "non-interference" policies.

6. Malaysia now has the opportunity to  drive change in ASEAN - leading towards a more compassionate and tolerant people-centered ASEAN.  I strongly urge and hope that our government does this. If we take steps to save them, we will also have moral ground to take positive change forward change forward.

7. Let us all do our part.
At this point in time, I know that Mercy Malaysia (http://www.mercy.org.my/) and Raykat4Rakyat (http://rakyat4rakyat.org/) are places you can go to, for now. Check them out.

Continue to sent thoughts and prayers  to the Rohingya people. Also continue to pray for our leaders that they do the right thing, to save lives.

Thank you.
